From what I was told at an ABA track, we are using the NBL numbers til dec 31 on NBL tracks. You can use either one at an ABA track. Then switching to the USABMX number on your card for Jan 1. You can still run your NBL number on an NBL track until Dec 31st. Other thing they said was that the USABMX number would change every year. I hope that is wrong because that would be a pain.

Okay, if points are all going to be tabulated under one sanction and that is the way the ABA does it then yes your bike number will change each year. The more you race, the more points you get and the lower your number will be for final point posting. Ex.: For the 2010 season my son started out with bike #34 after we finished racing for the season his new bike number for the 2011 season was #8. This season he is currently #34 again because he hasn't been racing as much between National Guard duty and work...he didn't graduated from AIT until July 7th so he got a late start and for the 2012 season he's being deployed to Kuwait until Xmas so he will have to start back at #050 for the 2013 season. If you miss a year or more and come back to the sport you have to go back to your original 3-digit number until you finish that season and get your new number. We always enjoyed this system because we looked at it as a challenge to get a low district number as I didn't have the funds to travel to a bunch of Nationals since I was a single mom with two kids racing and had more important things to spend my money on!
